Ferdium Version
7.2.2
What Operating System are you using?
Other Linux
Operating System Version
Kubuntu 24.04.4 - KDE - X11
What arch are you using?
x64
Last Known Working Ferdium version
7.2.1
Expected Behavior
The Ferdium system tray icon should show a visual unread/activity indicator when there are unread messages, as it did in version 7.2.1.
Actual Behavior
Since Ferdium 7.2.2, the system tray icon no longer shows any visual unread/activity indicator when there are unread messages.
The unread counter inside Ferdium still works correctly, and desktop notifications are also displayed normally. Downgrading to 7.2.1 immediately restores the tray indicator without changing any configuration.
Steps to reproduce
- Run Ferdium 7.2.1 on KDE Plasma using X11.
- Receive a WhatsApp message without opening the conversation.
- The Ferdium system tray icon shows the unread/activity indicator (red/purple indicator).
- Upgrade Ferdium to 7.2.2 without changing any Ferdium or KDE settings.
- Receive another WhatsApp message without opening the conversation.
- The unread counter is correctly shown inside Ferdium, but the system tray icon no longer shows any unread/activity indicator.
- Downgrade Ferdium back to 7.2.1 without changing any configuration.
- The system tray unread/activity indicator immediately works again.

Additional information
The issue appeared immediately after upgrading from 7.2.1 to 7.2.2.
The system tray icon itself also looks different in 7.2.2 compared with 7.2.1.
Ferdium is running on KDE Plasma with X11. In 7.2.2 I also confirmed that Ferdium was running with --ozone-platform=x11.
This may be related to the new Linux tray implementation introduced in 7.2.2 using StatusNotifierItem/D-Bus instead of Electron's Tray implementation.
Downgrading from 7.2.2 to 7.2.1 immediately restores the unread/activity indicator without changing the Ferdium profile, WhatsApp service, KDE configuration, or any other settings.
Is the missing unread/activity indicator an intentional limitation of the new Linux tray implementation, or is this a regression?
